Writing resources

There are many places you can turn to for information on writing. I have put together some of my favorites here.

Publishers Marketplace

Everyone should be aware of what is going on in their field and business. Publishers Marketplace sends out a daily Lunch email, as well as provides the latest information on the industry. Trust me. It's worth a subscription.

Publishers Weekly

Whether you log in electronically, or get the weekly magazine, it's a deep well of information on the industry.

Writers Digest

I like getting these magazines, plus, if you go on their website they have links to all kinds of great articles, including information on getting an agent. They also offer books on writing and other swag.

writers digest tutorials

I've learned a lot from these video tutorials. You can download tutorials on almost all aspects of writing craft, the business, and tips from agents, authors, and editors. It's a great place to find inspiration too - and who doesn't need some of that?

ZEN BUSINESS

A great list of resources to help get started writing and planning on publishing that aspiring writer name Amelia and her librarian Beth Langston kindly let me know about. Thanks Amelia and Beth!

Creative Jobs for english majors

A guide by the Maryville University that does a great job of outlining a number of career paths an English Major could take, found by a student who came across this while looking into a career in writing! Thank you for the suggestion!

Books on writing

I've read dozens of books on writing, and have learned something about writing from each one. I'll try to do them justice, and summarize some of my favorites here. (Still updating...)
